An official public record of pharmaceutical cold-chain stores in Malaysia is NPRA's Cold Chain Facilities List (updated 29 September 2026). In it, four companies run cold-chain stores for other licensed importers and wholesalers: Zuellig Pharma (22 other licensees), DKSH Malaysia (11), Antah Pharma (2) and Schenker Logistics, now part of DSV (1). Pharmaniaga Logistics and Apex Pharmacy Marketing are listed with cold-chain stores for their own groups. International logistics and 3PL groups such as DHL, Nippon Express and Mainfreight describe pharma services in Malaysia, but do not appear in that list. NPRA does not issue GDP certificates, so "GDP-certified" on a provider's website is not an NPRA certificate - check who issued it, for which site and scope.
How this list was built
This is not a ranking and not a recommendation. Companies are ordered by what public regulatory records show, then by the scope of their stated services:
- First, NPRA's Cold Chain Facilities List (importers and wholesalers that passed NPRA's cold chain facility inspection, updated 29 September 2026). It names each licensee, the store that holds its time- and temperature-sensitive products, the activities outsourced to that store and the inspection date. Companies that run stores for other licensees come first, by the number of licensees they serve.
- Then, Ministry of Health registers on data.moh.gov.my (approved importers, approved wholesalers and registered products, data as of 29 October 2026).
- Then, the company's own statements - marked "per the company". We did not include companies for which we found no Malaysia-specific pharmaceutical facts.
One point matters for every provider below: according to NPRA's own FAQ on GDP inspection, NPRA does not issue any certificate of compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP). GDP is a condition of the import and wholesale licences, checked through inspections - and those inspections also cover third parties that a licensee appoints for storage, transport or distribution. The Cold Chain Facilities List only covers inspections from 1 October 2021, so it is not a complete register of every compliant store.

"Other licensees" are licensed importers or wholesalers outside the company's own group that name the company's store in the Cold Chain Facilities List.

- Also a registration holder: 201 approved products.
Antah Pharma
- In the NPRA list: named in 3 entries; its Petaling Jaya store also serves 2 other licensees. Most recent inspection date in the list: 15 December 2025.
- Licences: approved importer and wholesaler; medical device establishment licences.
- Profile: a pharmaceutical distributor rather than a logistics-only company; holds 3 product registrations.
DSV (listed as Schenker Logistics Malaysia)
- In the NPRA list: Schenker Logistics (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. runs the store - Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam - for one veterinary licensee; inspected 26-27 August 2025.
- Name change: per DSV, from 1 April 2026 its Malaysian business runs through three companies, and Schenker Logistics (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is now DSV Air & Sea (Freight) Sdn. Bhd. Which DSV company operates the Bukit Jelutong store today is not stated.
- Profile: the only logistics-only company we found storing for another licensee in the list. We found it in neither the MOH importer and wholesaler registers nor the registered-products dataset - the licensee keeps the licence and outsources storage and transport.
Pharmaniaga Logistics
- In the NPRA list: 5 entries with stores in Bukit Raja (Shah Alam), Juru (Penang), Kota Kinabalu and Kuching; most recent inspection date in the list: 16-17 July 2025. The licensees it stores for belong to its own group.
- Profile: the logistics arm of Pharmaniaga Berhad, a Malaysian manufacturing and distribution group. Licensed importer and wholesaler; holds 1 product registration itself, and other group companies hold more.
Apex Pharmacy Marketing
- In the NPRA list: 7 entries - its own cold-chain stores in Selangor, Perak, Penang, Sabah, Johor, Kelantan and Sarawak; most recent inspection date in the list: 26 August 2025. No other licensees are listed at its stores.
- Profile: a wholesaler with a national network rather than a third-party logistics company; holds 29 product registrations.
International logistics groups with pharma services
None of these companies appears in the NPRA Cold Chain Facilities List. Certificates and services below are stated by the companies themselves unless a register is named.
DHL
- DHL Supply Chain (Malaysia): in the MOH register of approved wholesalers - licensed for non-poisons and health supplements, not for scheduled poisons. Per the company: over 120,000 square metres of GDPMD-certified space in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor. GDPMD is the good distribution practice standard for medical devices, not for medicines.
- DHL Global Forwarding, KLIA: per the company (August 2025), a facility in the KLIA Free Commercial Zone with cold rooms at 15-25°C and 2-8°C, certified under IATA CEIV Pharma for air freight.
Other names you will see
- Nippon Express (Malaysia): per a March 2021 company release, GDP certification for domestic transport from its KLIA branch and GDPMD certification at its Klang centre and KLIA branch, with pharmaceutical distribution to hospitals. The certifying body is not named, the information is from 2021, and we did not find the company in MOH registers.
- CEVA Logistics (Malaysia): in the MOH register of approved wholesalers for non-poisons and health supplements; we found no Malaysia-specific description of pharmaceutical services.
- Mainfreight (Malaysia): per the company (December 2023), its Malaysia branch achieved GDP certification; scope and certifying body are not specified in the announcement text.
Logistics provider, licence holder, registration holder
The Cold Chain Facilities List shows how licensees organise this. In 41 of its 84 entries, the licensee's own activity is only "Distribution (Document management only)". In 34 of them storage is outsourced - mostly to Zuellig Pharma or DKSH; the other 7 name no store. Three separate roles sit behind every product on a Malaysian shelf:
- The registration holder (MAH) holds the product registration with NPRA - the MAL number.
- The import or wholesale licence holder is the company legally importing and selling by wholesale.
- The logistics provider stores and moves the product, under the licence holder's GDP obligations.
One company can play all three roles, and the largest logistics names also hold registrations - 124 products for Zuellig Pharma and 201 for DKSH. For a foreign manufacturer without a Malaysian subsidiary, that is a decision to make deliberately: when one partner stores, sells and holds the registration, your access to the market depends on that single relationship, and changing partner means transferring the registration. The alternative is to keep the registration with an independent MAH and appoint logistics and distribution separately. How the licences, GDP and cold chain rules work is covered in our guide to pharma logistics in Malaysia.
How to check a provider yourself
- Search the NPRA Cold Chain Facilities List for the provider's name and store address, and note the inspection date. If your product needs cold chain, ask which licensee's inspection covered the store.
- Check the MOH registers of approved importers and wholesalers on data.moh.gov.my - including the licence columns: a wholesaler licensed only for non-poisons is not licensed to wholesale scheduled poisons under that licence.
- For medical devices, use the Medical Device Authority's establishment licence search.
- Read "GDP-certified" carefully. NPRA does not issue GDP certificates; ask who issued the certificate, for which site and scope, and whether it is valid. For air freight, IATA CEIV Pharma is a separate, industry certification.
- Separate the contracts. Storage and transport agreements should not carry rights over your product registration.
Frequently asked questions
Who are the main pharmaceutical logistics companies in Malaysia?
In NPRA's Cold Chain Facilities List (29 September 2026), Zuellig Pharma and DKSH Malaysia run cold-chain stores for the most licensed importers and wholesalers - 22 and 11 other licensees. Antah Pharma and Schenker Logistics, now DSV, also store for others; Pharmaniaga Logistics and Apex Pharmacy Marketing are listed with stores for their own groups. DHL, Nippon Express and Mainfreight describe pharma logistics services in Malaysia but are not in that list.
Does NPRA issue GDP certificates to logistics companies?
No. NPRA's FAQ on GDP inspection states that it does not issue any certification for GDP compliance. GDP is a condition of the import and wholesale licences, checked through inspections that also cover third parties appointed for storage, transport or distribution.
What is NPRA's Cold Chain Facilities List?
A public NPRA list of importers and wholesalers whose cold-chain facilities passed NPRA's inspection since 1 October 2021. For each licensee it gives the inspection date and, where storage is outsourced, the store holding its time- and temperature-sensitive products. The September 2026 version has 84 entries.
Is my logistics provider also my registration holder?
Not necessarily. The registration holder (MAH) holds the product registration with NPRA; the logistics provider stores and moves the product under a licence holder's GDP obligations. Some large providers, such as Zuellig Pharma and DKSH, also hold product registrations.
Can a logistics company without a wholesale licence store medicines?
NPRA's FAQ on GDP inspection treats third parties appointed by a licensed importer or wholesaler for storage, transport or distribution as part of the licensee's GDP inspection - the licensee keeps the licence and the responsibility. In the Cold Chain Facilities List, Schenker Logistics (now part of DSV) runs a store for a veterinary licensee and does not appear in the MOH importer or wholesaler registers.
